Woods to Waves 2023

Saturday, May 13, 2023 at St. Dorothy's Rest

Join us on Saturday, May 13 at 8:30 AM for Woods to Waves, our largest annual fundraising event. Beginning on St. Dorothy’s Rest’s property and ending at the Pacific Ocean, you are invited to challenge yourself physically as you experience the bounty and beauty of creation... all for a great cause! Money raised directly supports our Hospital Camp programs and providing camp scholarships for underserved and foster youth in the Bay Area.

What is Woods to Waves?

Woods to Waves is a one day "hike-a-thon" event that begins at St Dorothy's Rest in Camp Meeker, CA and ends at the Pacific Ocean! The total distance is just shy of 12 miles, but shuttles are available beginning at the half way mark (you do not have to hike the whole way... but you can!).

The morning begins with breakfast, lunch packing (ingredients are provided) and a brief 10-15 minute keynote at St. Dorothy's. Our hike will begin promptly at 10 AM, and can last anywhere from 3-5 hours. Packed lunches will be delivered by a staff or volunteer at the halfway point, and refreshment stations are placed every few miles.

What does Woods to Waves Support?

All funds raised during Woods to Waves go to support St. Dorothy's Hospital Camp and our Campership fund for underserved youth and families experiencing financial hardship. Hospital Camp is offered each summer in partnership with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital to youth who have undergone transplant surgery. Eligibility and enrollment is determined by our dedicated nursing partners, and hospital campers attend at no cost whatsoever to their families.

In addition to Hospital Camp, funds raised during Woods to Waves benefit St. Dorothy's Camperships. We work alongside organizations such as YES Nature to Neighborhoods and Braid Mission, to make camp accessible for economically disadvantaged youth in the Bay Area. At St. Dorothy's, no child is ever turned away due to an inability to pay. This is made possible only through the support of generous donors, grants, and fundraising events.

This year, you can get a head start on fundraising by joining our GiveButter campaign. Every $50 raised earned you 1 ticket in our raffle, to be held on the day of the event, Saturday, May 13, 2023.
